Our Story

1922

Catani Train Station opened 29th June (closed 15th April 1950) along what is now McCraws Road, on the Strezlecki line between the Bayles and Yannathan stations.

The Catani township was established with the sale of 18 blocks in the “main street” of Taplins Road on the 1st November.

1923

Post Office and Primary School (4154) opened. Other businesses that opened and then unfortunately closed in the main street included a General Store, Mechanics, Lolly Shop, Barbers and Butchers.

Catani Football Club was established: President: J.H. Smethurst, Secretary: C. Llewellyn, Captain: Charlie Wildes, Vice Captain: Hec McColl.
